Our reception desk is open from 8:30 am-4:45 pm, Monday to Friday. When you call the office at 604-592-8337, you will talk to Judy, Josie, or Marlene to book an appointment. They can also answer most questions that you may have. If you leave a message, your call will be returned typically within one business day.

Counselling appointments are offered Tuesday-Saturday. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evening times are available. Dr. Stringer is currently offering only video and telephone counselling. She provides assessments in her Vancouver office.

Booking your first appointment:

If this is your first time seeing one of our staff, the receptionist will ask you a few questions about what you want to work on so that she can match you with the most appropriate counsellor. We will typically be able to schedule your appointment within a few days. If you would like to have a free 30-minute telephone consultation prior to booking your appointment, please call or email, and we would be happy to set that up for you. If you are an existing client, you can book and cancel appointments online.

We will provide a reminder email one to two days in advance of your appointment.

Costs and coverage:

Most people have coverage through their extended health benefits to see a psychologist, and if you have Pacific Blue Cross or Green Shield coverage, you will probably have funding to see a counsellor. Just check your benefits package. Usually you will pay at the time of the session and then claim the money back through your extended health provider. If you do not have extended health coverage, you may be able to claim the cost on your tax return. Seeing a psychologist or counsellor is unfortunately not covered under the provincial Medical Services Plan (MSP).

Dr. Mallory and Dr. Stringer are both approved therapists with the RCMP, Veterans Affairs and Canadian Armed Forces. Dr. Mallory and Mahima Jacob work with ICBC cases. Counsellor Mahima Jacob is an approved Victims Assistance Services provider. ICBC and Victim Services clients will need to pay for the portion not covered. For example, ICBC clients seeing one of our psychologists will pay $45 per session. You will need to get a letter from either Victims Services or ICBC so that we can confirm funding before booking your first appointment; RCMP, Veterans, and Army clients may need to complete a form at the first session. Otherwise we do not bill directly or have a sliding scale.

Mahima Jacob charges $120 for a 50-minute session, and our psychologists charge $190. Longer sessions will be charged accordingly (e.g., 90 minutes at $120 per hour would be $180). We take all forms of payment including cash, cheque, credit and debit. Please call the office, or see this website, for more information on prices for Assessment services.
