ABOUT ME

Dr. Rachel Mallory

I am a registered psychologist in BC (#1777, College of Health and Care Professionals of BC). I completed my Honours BA at Simon Fraser University, and my MA and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. I provide counseling and assessment services to adults. My background includes senior management at a psychotherapy services organization, as well as working at Fraser Health and the Correctional Service of Canada.

I worked with rehabilitation organizations and private practices before opening my own business. My approach is positive, practical, and focuses on making changes in the present.

I have provided cognitive-behavioural therapy training to MA and PhD students in the Clinical Psychology program at Simon Fraser University (SFU), where I also worked in the training clinic.

How I work

An ethical approach

Psychologists are bound by strict codes of ethics. There are rules regarding how information is stored and handled (with the highest regard for your privacy), how we present ourselves and our qualifications, and how advertising can be done.

For example, psychologists cannot use testimonials on their websites or other advertising materials, and there are also strict rules on dual relationships. So, if, for example, a therapist is a close personal friend with your mother or your best friend, that therapist would not be able to see you as a client. But I do appreciate it when my clients refer me to their families and friends, and, of course, I do not share information about our clients in those circumstances.

Confidentiality

Without your permission, I cannot release any information about you except under very specific circumstances (for example, if necessary to protect the safety of a child).

Code of conduct

I am a member of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) and here's a link to our Code of Ethics and Conduct
